Cool White side emitting LEDs were installed and wired up to a switch that is independent from the lighting system...so they can be on with the lights or without...perfect for dusk driving!
Cheers!
Rag finally gave in and wanted some 'different' type of lighting other than HIDs.

Knocked this one out just in time to return to customer.
Thing looks sick at night....guess even the cops downtown commented on it :) :) Morimoto Bi-Xenon Projectors Morimoto 8000k HID bulbs Morimoto 35ive watt Ballasts Custom (re-wired) bi-xenon HID wire harness Gatlin Gun v2.0 Shrouds (left chrome) Stock headlight housings painted gloss black 90mm CCFL halo lighting behind gatlin shrouds Custom bypassed DRL system for the Dodge Caliber's CAN-BUS electrical system On-Off lighted switch inside for the Halo Lights 140 Red LED lights throught the interior Under Front Driver and Passenger feet Under Rear Driver and Passenger feet Custom mounted behind Custom brackets in the rear for cargo lighting On-Off lighted switch inside for these LEDs Lots of lights, lots of troubleshooting, lots of waiting on stuff to dry.....not alot of time!! Cheers! Not really sure on the name yet, but I'll work.
Got a 2007 Dodge Caliber that is getting some serious lighting upgrades. Owner originally purchased some eBay headlights and as 90% of them do, they started leaking. We agreed that projector retrofitting was the best thing to do. Also, we'll be doing a few (haha) lights on the interior. So here we go: Mini H1 Bi-Xenon Projectors Morimoto 35ive watt HID bulbs and ballasts Gatlin Gun v2.0 Shrouds with Halo's behind them Audi-inspired LED lighting Amber 30 LED park/turn signal bulbs 150 LEDs inside throughout the floor and cabin (red) The only snag so far is that the Dodge electrical system is CAN-BUS....which basically means "No, you can't put anything aftermarket on here, because we're an awesome technological company". So the last picture if of my 3 failed attempts at bypassing this.....on to the next one I guess! Cheers!! Finished the box for the Honda and buttoned up the install.
Box hits nicely, amp is tucked away and stock radio now has Ipod and Aux inputs...cheers! Had a sweet lifted truck in today. Owner put on all the mods himself, but decided to have Trax do the system. Got alot going in, so it was a full day.
Truck looks and sounds good now. Clarion DVD player with video bypassed, iPod input and steering wheel controls (coming this week). Arc Audio 3 channel XDi amplifier pushing (2) 10" Arc Audio XXD subwoofers in a custom made box that fits under the rear seats and Hybrid Audio Technologies Imagine Series 6.5" Component Speakers Invision Dual DVD player headrests Custom LED lighting in Dome light and under each persons' feet area. Custom mounted Backup Camera Cheers Had some downtime, so I threw on some Rage Gold and sanded away....one more sanding session, spot fill and then it'll be paint time!!!
Till then, the gaurd dogs will have to do with their current dog bowl holder!! Finally found time to complete these bad boys.
This was a budget build, so it didn't turn out 'completely stock' looking like I wanted it to, but I've already got a few orders in on these, so THEY will at least look like they should. Lights turned out great and are super cool looking when they light up. Got the pods smoothed down and texture painted so they are ready for paint to match the existing wall in the bus....going to look sick in there. Already have another Bus owner that wants a set....better get them up on Samba!
Installed pics of everything will be coming up soon. Cheers Doing some more custom work on a Kappa platform car for a customer with a Saturn Sky.
This time we'll be doing LED accents instead of a full on LED conversion. These photos are for the client to help determine what exactly to do for lighting, since the taillight is pretty complex on the inside. Also, to show the nick in one of the lights that came in the box. Little dremel work and these bad boys were apart. Got everything buttoned up and dropped it off with clients brother.
It was good to see it go...but I have a feeling I'll be adding more to this and/or doing something down the road. On to the next one! Pics will be transferred to the Project Page soon. These were the only shots I could grab....I forgot to do a photo shoot. So the surprise for Steven was the rims.....they were old and busted....so we made them new hotness. Stripped them down to nothing...sanded them, then primer/single stage/hand painted logo and pin striped them. Turned out good for a 4 hour paint session. Everyone at the shop was helping on this one.....even the lady got in on the action with mixing the paint that we all hand-painted. Overall, I think it completes the car.....even got a compliment on the car today as it was sitting outside.
After that, I got all the LEDs wired up in the trunk. I also took the rear bumper off and attempted to sound deaden that....it's much better now that before...but since it was broken in one spot.....that tends to chatter a bit.....I'm still not done with that, but more later. Other than a few odds and ends, Memphry is another one for the books.....donezo!!!! I love driving this thing, as the sound is perfect....crisp highs and rediculous lows.....makes me wish I had a trunk! Vinyl came in...so i put those on. I'm diggin' the gold and black theme.
This is all I've got.....suprise a'comin' tomorrow. Cheers Been trying to knock out a bunch of projects, as well as keep up with the day-to-day jobs that come in.
Had a friend of a friend come in with a 2005 GMC Sierra pickup. Wants a DVD player with iPod controls, Bluetooth, Satellite Radio, steering wheel controls and DVD Playback bypass. Enter the Clarion VX400 coupled with a Sirius Satellite Radio tuner and a PAC steering wheel control interface. This was a pretty simple install, just alot of wires to be fitted into the dash. After a little weight loss therapy (see last photo below) the DVD Player and all the components fit like a glove!! Cheers Had a customer come in with a AVIC unit that wasn't cooperating...so I decided to assist.
After an hour of troubleshooting, came to the conclusion that the Scosche module to help integrate an aftermarket unit into the stock system was bad. So I informed the customer that I can hardwire it in, but he'll lose the ability to hear his turn signals and chimes throughout the vehicle. Since he was cool with that, we went forward with the install. Once the deck was up and running, we installed the included Bluetooth mic up in the A-Pillar, facing the driver; as well as mounted the included GPS antenna for the built in Navigation up on the dash. Bypass the X930BT so that it will play video while the unit is in motion. Standard 'ground the parking brake wire' doesn't work with these new units, so you have to figure out how to bypass it AND trick it to think that you AREN'T driving when you really are.....ahh the joy's of electronics! Customer was happy, install looked great....and...the best part..I got to use my Credit Card app on my Droid......BEST PURCHASE EVER......I can now accept charges with Credit Cards, using my smartphone....it's amazing! Full blown business now. Cheers So I'm helping out a fellow Solstice member....long story short, he got the short end of the stick (it was more of a handle that was offered to him and his end was a wet noodle) on an internet sale, and being that I do 20% of my business online, I hate these types of transactions (makes my job alot harder). So I offered my services to make things right.
I have a few things in front of this project, but I'll start busting them out quicker now that Memphry is almost completed. Things to do: Remove existing Tint from headlights Remove cheaply made chrome shroud Add shroud with material that can withstand heat putoff by HID lighting Add CCFL Halo lighting behind said shroud Reassemble and ship! Till then Finally got some spare time for these.....templates made and everything is secure....just need the customer's good words then I can button this side up and start on the other side.
I with the budget on this build would have allowed me to mold and paint the taillights...but we're just doing a basic plug-n-play upgrade....so far so good Hit it hard on Friday night and haven't stopped until now (Sunday night)
Had some time to get some other projects started and did some random mini installs while I was at it...all it all, I'm just waiting on paint on the corners and taillights....and the subwoofer amp.....then we're donezo!!!! Got the speakers all installed upfront and 4 channel amp temporarily hooked up and gave it a listen. Un-tuned and all the settings untouched..this system already sounds crazy good....highs are perfect and the midbass is very impressive!!!! All that hardwork on the sound deadening was worth it...we'll see what happens when we add 2400 watts to two subwoofers.....which, by the way, have a home now.....got the subwoofer box smoothed out and texture coated.....thing is a BEAST.....you want SPL out of a daily, while having good tunes when it's not hitting hard....gotta build the box as big as you can.....Box was a bit bigger than I wanted...but to get it tuned right, had to go this route.........gonna slam! Got the headlights sealed up and ready for a final tweak/leveling once the corners get smoked. Got the LEDs wired up front on a switch and other than that....long weekend...but we're about 95% done....waiting on the Mailman now (not Karl Malone). Cheers Fiber....it's good for the diet.
Ground down some edges made by the staples (I know, I know...I should have made a lip with my router, but it's 1/4" plywood.....didn't want to mess with it) After gringing it down so the glass will adhere better, I put some fiberglass cloth down and went to town....just need to sand it all smooth, fill, sand, cut and paint....almost done :) Worked alot on Memphry today and yesterday, but nothing really to show for it. Everything is hidden and out of the way.
Didn't snap pics, but I did start painting the headlights and shrouds....just need to wait for the custom paint I have planned. So the electrical system is up and running. Steven, no worries bud, I think I may have found a few things that may have been causing the Camry to run like crap. While doing the big 3 upgrade, I noticed the engine's ground wire was loose (could have been causing issues), noticed at the air intake boxes had loose or non-existant connections....so I tighted those up, and after getting the new high output alternator installed, all new 0ga power wires ran throughout...this puppy starts up without hesitation (as it did before) and purrs like a kitten (too many pet references in one sentence???) Got the 200 amp battery isolator installed, and there is barely enough room to make the connections...but this way it'll be as solid and trustworthy as possible...plus it's just out of the way! 0ga is now ran through the car (wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be), back outside of the car, then back inside (this was because the subbox clearance would have been messed up with the 0ga cable in the way). On to the final wiring for the LED lights, then finished up the front door speakers. Cheers The Vanagon is back...ready to step it up in the sound department.
Removing the old, cracked 4" speakers, and putting in some 5 1/4" Memphis Audio Power Reference Component speakers.....cutting the existing door panel to put the woofer in and placing the tweeter in the stock speaker location. I offset the tweeter inside the existing 'grill' because the speaker, from stock, is partially blocked by the dash...so this way the driver gets a clean, unblocked path from the tweeter to his ear. Doors also got a good layer of sound deadening to help with the road noise. Vanagon sounded MUCH better than before....next is a newer deck with hidden iPod controls and better subwoofer settings. My new staple gun showed up in the mail today...so I immediately had to use it and try it out......AMAZING....now people just have to start wanting fiberglass products again...cause I'm ready now. Luckily I had the dog bowl waiting....so I stapled some fleece on there, and did a coating of resin.....luckily the weather was nice.....Cheers
Only had about 20 minutes to work on the Camry tonight.....so I test fitted the headlights with the projectors to see how much modifications I'm going to have to do.....wasn't too bad...just knocked a couple of teeth off, and we're golden....next is paint (thinking of a cool theme to match the exterior of the car).
All the new goodies for the Uber light festival that's going to be happening in the front of the car showed up. We're doing:
New Crystal Euro Headlights with Bi-Xenon Projectors, 35 watt HID bulbs with Morimoto Ballasts New Crystal Euro Side Lights, smoked and throwing some LEDs in there to light up the night. Was sitting around and thought 'what the hell', and opened them up...so I'm 5 days ahead of schedule on the lights.....might as well throw some paint on them tomorrow and get them ready for the retro! Cheers Knocked out some things holding me back on Memphry today.....old tint was stripped and some new hotness was put on. Biggest difference that I can tell....old tint was old, peeling, and had a blueish tint to it.....new stuff....BLACK....perfect!
Got all the pillar covers back on (was waiting to get tint done so it was easier). Installed the rear 6x9" speakers, and routed the wires to where the new 4 channel amp will be. Got the rear deck lid put back together, so now we're good there. Got the front tweeters mounted on their custom made mount and they fit perfectly...should make a HUGE difference, as the stock tweets simple sucked. Got the deck installed (not permanetly yet) with auxilary wires for future expansion. iPod cord ran into the glove box since the Kenwood deck bypasses the iPod screen so you don't need to look at it while cruising through your music selection. Installed the Bluetooth mic by the compartment above the rear view mirror....this way the driver can speak clear towards the mic without adjusting his head and more importantly, being safe whilst driving. Got all the RCAs for the 2 amps ran, as well as the CAT5 cables for the 4 channel knob to increase the DBs if needed. Snaked new wires through the factory boots into the doors so the speakers will have plenty of wire to power them. All of these new wires are snaked under the factory carpet and tucked away nicely. Good weekend....on to the next one!! Cheers With the addition of another shop gaurd dog (hahaha), we needed a place to host another dog bowl. New box, new design.....now with fiberglass.
We can do anything type of dog bowl you can think of.......once I get some time (another hahaha), I'll be making my own clear dog bowls and adding some LEDs so that they light up....should be pretty cool. Just got the frame done for now...waiting for my upholstery gun to show up so I can shoot some 1/4" staples for the fabric instead of my awesome 1 1/2" ones I have now. Cheers |
